I think this has been a long time coming. At this point, almost all movies have forced libshit in them and this has only gotten worse over the past decade. When COVID shut done theaters, proles got used to life without their monthly indoctrination appointments and it's going to be like pulling teeth to get them to come back. Hollywood has always been controlled by liberal Jews, but the mask off politics of the past 5-10 years has poisoned the well. People don't want to go see movies by people that continually tweet about how much they hate them and their principles. Even with the success of Top Gun 2, a breath of fresh air and a rare/final exception to this trend, studios won't learn the right lessons. Keeping tech and such constant, I don't know how much of a learning function there has been as a general matter. Every big animated release prints money (with the exception of Lightyear, which obvs Disney should’ve released on streaming like Turning Red, especially once the recession was fully underway, but watch what this new fucking minions movie does, recession or not). The movie going experience is for 1) capeshit and other special effects movies, and 2) parents of young kids who are channeling their own nostalgia!and/or needing an activity that kills three hours, requires no thought and requires very little parental effort. This trend started like 20 years ago and streaming wildly accelerated it. But compared to broadcast/cable the movies have held up decently well and the only real apples to apples comparison is to take streaming subscription revenue and allocate whatever portion of it to movies and then add that to theatrical bc there’s a whole new separate revenue stream that’s far more cost efficient and cuts out the theaters as a middle man. Would I want to own a huge theater chain right now? Fuck no. But the content companies are doing fine given how much they’ve paying for content and how much disruption of customer behavior and competition they are all causing/dealing with right now.
