I’m 35 with kids that are 3 and 5. I can get a $1MM, 20 year policy for $35/month. Or, I could get a $1MM, 25 year policy for $55/month. Which should I choose? I realize $1MM won’t buy much but I also have a policy through work and a wife that’s capable of making money.

25-year will get them through college and grad school. I’d lean toward that for that reason. It’s $6k across the life of the policy.

How long will your parents live and would your kids inherit any money from them if you died? If so, how much? (Same for wife's parents)

I expect my parents to live another ~15 years or so, and whether I died before or after them, I know my parents would take care of them financially, so I don't bother with life insurance. (Beyond the $500k I get through work)

For context, my parents will leave me (or, my kids) 8 figures.

Plus, I havtn discussed this with the yet, but I'm pretty sure they're already planning on paying for my kids college.
