How much would you value this INSANE injury (with Photo) (CSLG)

Her and her friends rented a boat for a day. They were swimming in the water and then decided to get back into the boat. Everyone was in except our client when the captain started the motor. The boat employee tried to pull our client onto the boat and then dropped her. Her legs fell into the propellers and she suffered catastrophic injuries. She lost part of one of her toes, broke multiple bones in her legs, has nerve damage, horrible scars, and will likely never walk again without pain.
What kind of value would you put on this? She is in her 30s.

I would imagine most of your cases I'd award $0 beyond property damages. In fact, I was sideswiped by a driver who had a disability and shouldn't have been driving and it irritated my neck for like a year, but since I'm not a deadbeat, I did PT on my own and eventually got back to lifting and it went away. Some scam lawyer told me I could get $100K if I litigated but i didn't bc the disabled person told me they'd turn in their license and not drive anymore.
In any case, this seems greusome, and I'd probably award at least a few million. People are way too careless around boats, and they shouldn't be. I don't give a shit about her not boating again (wouldn't pursue that argument), but there's no way this heals without major scarring and she lives in a warm weather climate. Putting aside pain, she'll be self conscious about it forever and struggle in dating, etc.
Even if I wasn't rich like I am, I dont think i'd let this happen to me for a few million bucks so I don't see how a jury wouldn't award a few million. More if the crew was drinking. |

He wasn’t just going to the pharmacy to fill his prescription. He was actually working, holding himself out as a competent captain, and taking innocent passengers out for an excursion. Leaving aside his absolute lack of qualification to even embark on the excursion, he turned on engines when someone was in the water in close proximity to the propellers. You always check to see if your props are free and clear. This is basic and everyone understands. The equivalent to driving might be, someone who puts up a solar shade in their windshield, starts the car, drives away, and runs someone over before removing it. It’s that bad. Deckhands drinking is obviously negligent too. Had they not been drinking maybe they could have stopped the negligent captain or been more helpful. It’s a terrible situation all around and I feel for this woman who simply wanted an excursion and hired a boat thinking it was safe. It is a tragedy. |

The signal detection characteristics are poor. Even the gold-standard diagnostic tool, the Budapest Criteria, has a poor specificity, & also a wide variance of specificity across studies.
Even so, these criteria when applied to community-based providers shows most diagnoses such as those you elicit to be shams: "Mailis-Gagnon compared the Budapest Criteria with clinical diagnosis and found that only 27% of patients diagnosed by a community-based provider met the Budapest Criteria."
And all of this is of course without a pecuniary motive to shade the truth/being shunted to a preferred provider.
