Just a bunch of people who hate Russians with a passion. War would go on from Western Ukraine, only this time the short supply lines would all be on the side of Ukraine.
I just don't see a victory scenario for Russia. It's not victory if you temporarily conquer some territory that Ukraine is committed to spend a decade liberating, if need be. With the full support of NATO and US armaments. |

That huge number of additional troops is the premise for this thread- it assumes that at some point you can throw enough meat into a battle that it turns in your favor.
However, in this case winning the battle won't mean winning the war. The war seems unwinnable to me. |

They took potshots when they could, bombed things when they could, made things annoying for the Americans but they weren't rolling formations in to attack entrenched American positions. They just waited around until the Americans left and the puppet government collapsed.
This is a conventional war between two conventional militaries. We haven't seen anything like this in Europe since the Balkan wars really, and nothing close to this scale since WW2. |

I think it was perhaps a reasonable gamble that Russia could pull off an all out invasion and NATO wouldn't have the appetite to really get involved in support of...Ukraine.
Again, I think Putin was also under the very mistaken belief that a significant part of the Ukrainian population still favors Russia over the West. |
