i havn't read that one yet, this is my second. is myra breckenridge worth reading? i was going to read "The Last Empire: essays 1992–2000" or maybe his book on burr next, after i get through some other non-vidal books

i can't speak highly enough of Julian though, it's an incredible novel

yes. it was hard to start because the language is kind of quaint and dense until you get used to it, and the structure is unusual -- two of his friends/acquaintances are corresponding in letter form about him decades after Julian died, then they have Julian's diary transcribed whose contents then forms of the bulk of the novel, and the two friends/acquaintances interject at various points to give their opinions of what happened -- but it's quite profound.
