Odd case. Almost like it's a historical trend you can see play out again and again, as if the intersection of action/violence actually operates quite different on the right vs. on the left (sort of like sexuality tends to be a spectrum for women and a binary for men). |

In the first two-thirds of American history divisions within parties themselves, and factions formed across party lines, were often more significant on the national level.
Are we too dumb as a nation to break out of this? Maybe, probably--it certainly reduces the amount of thinking your average citizen has to do and lets them slot nicely into a tribe, in which case the left is definitely favored based purely on numbers. But I also think predicting the future based on our current system is being too fatalist |

This lib/ GOP dichotomy is just the latest incarnation of something that has been going on a long time. Also, the "left" side always wins. This go around it's not even a close call, the "left" controls virtually every center of power in this country, from the fed. gov. to the military to the media, etc. etc. etc.
The only way out of this, IMHO, is that the left destroys itself by somehow causing the federal government to run out of money. |
