Talked to someone in the biz earlier tonight and she explained it like Chinks, Arabs, Russians and other 3rd world idiots "invest" money in film productions and get US residency in return, it only takes 500k
DVD revenue dried up so studios turned to this method of financing, "investors" only want to be attached to prestige blockbusters not arthouse films. I thought it was more about films being made for foreign audiences but they don't give a shit about that
Imo movies went to shit around 2009, i googled and
