There's certainly way more money in Britain than Poland or Slovenia. The upper middle and upper class is substantial. On the other hand, they've also flooded the country with millions of low wage migrants in the last 20 years. And I'm guessing Poland and Slovenia have demographics that skew much more traditional, married couples with children, whereas Britain has a higher proportion of singles and never marrieds. You can see how that distorts incomes in general.
Britain's economic growth since Blair's days was driven by growth in low wage service jobs rather than increasing productivity, which gives you a weird dynamic of growing economy attracting migrants but not increasing personal wealth. And now they have too many people chasing after not enough housing and social services, meaning real QOL has declined for most people. In short, they fucked up with third rate leadership ever since John Major.

slovenia is also the wealthiest of the former yugoslav states and the one that had the most industry. it's a 180 as fuck place and fully on par with the west as far as infrastructure. |

I have noted over the years that Britain can't make up its mind what it wants to be - more free market with less regulation like America or Canada or more managed nanny quasi socialist state like a typical EU country, and as such has ended up with the worst of both worlds. An exaggeration, perhaps, but it does explain the schizophrenic nature of its politics and economy.
