Date: February 7th, 2023 9:58 AM Author: Pale erotic point stock car I went on a mini-vacation because my hearing today was cancelled, but apparently, it wasn't cancelled because it's still on the docket. I contacted the Court and let them know that I wouldn't be able to travel back to my jx for the hearing (status hearing), but could attend virtually or telephonically. The judicial assistant told me "all hearings are in person." I explained that the earliest I could possibly get to the jx would be later this afternoon if I immediately head to the airport. I'm currently enroute as we speak, but it's a 9am hearing.
Why the FUCK are courts like this??????? I hate this "profession." |

but then the private docket showed it scheduled as originally set. Co-defendant's counsel e-mailed yesterday to verify this, because it was a bit confusing. The Court said that the hearings were as originally scheduled, so I let them know I was on vacation at the time, but could immediately drive to the airport and be there by late this afternoon if the Court were inclined to reset the hearing for tomorrow.
Opposing counsel was real cool, though, and let the court know when the case was called. It was continued until June, LJL.
This is the absolute worst profession imaginable and I never should've given up my HVAC gig for lawl school. What the fuck was I thinking? |

I had a court require in person appearance for a routine motion hearing on a friday. Then on the following monday, require counsel and the parties to attend a virtual settlement conference in the morning with an in-person status conference a few hours later on the same day.
Meanwhile, I have many settled cases languishing for many months that have been submitted to the courts and all a judge has to do is sign a Judgment.
Simultaneously, the message from the courts is that there are too many judicial vacancies and too big of a backlog to give any cases trial dates.
In reality, most judges are extremely lazy and intentionally schedule routine matters to eat up all of their court time to avoid doing any work and ever having to actually make a decision about anything.
