that may be a fair salary for, e.g., surgeons or cancer doctors. but lol at the average general practitioner or dermatologist feeling morally indignant at making any less than half a million a year for 40 hrs/week of work.

i find it funny that doctors simultaneously punch up at health execs and hospital CEOs, while punching down at nurses and physician assistants. they have a gripe with everyone, and think they are uniquely persecuted. really arrogant, privileged, spoiled outlook.

the way they talk about salary negotiations "know your worth" "it's not about being greedy, it's about being fairly compensated" says a lot. you can tell most of them are very greedy and doing it mostly for the money - but lap up the praise of being heroes anyways.

irony is that the very real tribulations they face (like residency conditions) they do to themselves -- in an effort to restrict supply and boost their salaries on the backend. they never acknowledge the backend part and always complain about the low salary during residency -- duh, that's the point.

of course this is not all doctors, i've met plenty who are amazing humans and genuine heroes. but as a group, it's hard not to ridicule them when you look at the average.

go on any doctor forum. half the time you're talking about how "physician salary has not increased since 2000" (a demonstrable lie) and "sometimes nurses make more than doctors" (a cherry-picked outlier that says nothing), while the other half the time you're talking about how easy it is to make $400k-$600k working 40-50 hrs/week with absolute job security.

but it's not their dullness that i care about, it's the hypocrisy. their aggrieved tone despite speaking from privilege.

they adopt the exact same tone and terminology you would expect from coal miners or factory workers advocating for a living wage. they honestly think they're fighting the good fight alongside the common working class - who in reality, if they knew the truth, would spit in their faces.

now are lawyers overpaid? that's neither here nor there. i just have never - not once - seen a forum of lawyers adopt the language of truck drivers and single moms working 3 jobs, complaining that their compensation is a moral injustice.

After going through 4 years of undergrad and then med school and then residency, obviously doctors feel entitled to a good pay. Med school is expensive as hell and residencies don't pay shit.

Physicians should be comparing themselves to CEOs, partners at law firms, managing partners in private equity, managing directors at hedge funds, VPs at investment banks etc. Physicians are getting cucked hard
