they focused way too much on the no mans sky clone shit though (I have no interest in building a ship/base/etc), the "Same Game" parts (questlines) feel more bare bones than even Skyrim. the fact that you just jump to new stars completely removes the initial exploration before fast travel as well which makes the game less engrossing. there are way too many one-off fetchquests. etc. combat feels decent, flying around people with an upgraded boost pack and shooting them is pretty fun
it blows my fucking mind that the "Bethesda Game" was refined with New Vegas damn near 15 years ago and Bethesda still cannot get through their skulls why so many people liked it. All the pieces are there for engaging factions+questlines+choices but instead they sunk a hundred million man hours into Space Minecraft. |

Date: September 20th, 2023 10:39 AM Author: faggot burger (get your free government garbage 🗑 Burner phone 📱today friends) It sucks because there are definitely a few points where you see the potential of Starfield being the best iteration of the Same Game, but the cool quests/questlines are the exception and none of them involve any sort of impactful decisions. Most of my time shouldn't be spent docking and undocking just to complete fetch quests, but it's clear Bethesda has a thing for building backstory/lore and then just doing absolutely fuck all with it and have you deliver toasters or whatever.
At least Fallout 4 gave an excuse for building a base and it was part of the main quest line, you don't need one at all throughout all of Starfield yet it's clear they sunk a ton of resources into the basebuilding/crafting/resource collecting bullshit. They should've left it at "pay some money to add this building to your base" because I'm sure as shit not collecting sixteen doodads to upgrade my gun or add a pvc pipe to an outpost. |
