Everything is ersatz and weirdly dreamlike, and there is almost no connection left to feeling "alive". Few real threats and even those threats that exist (urban crime) are consciously programmed (see El Salvador as example of the regime's ability to end them). Everything, even danger, is like something from Disney World.
But mass shootings and shooting attempts feel like ancient reality, with real stakes, and real morality.
It's no wonder that since the 90s they have become a regular outlet for people
