It was mostly a lot of surprise. I actually knew that they weren't in a position to actually kill me but still gave them the money because I knew it would go smoother. I talked back too. Talked a little shit.
The next day I wish I had talked more. There was an older guy who was level headed and I could tell it was business as usual. The younger dude I was more worried he was a loose cannon because his attitude appeared that he thought sticking people up was really fun while the older guy you could tell it was nothing to him just business. The funny thing was due to the area and some circumstances if they had killed me they would have 100% gotten caught and so I probably could have negotiated but my flight response kicked in and I thought eh why not leave quietly without incident. I wish I had had the balls to haggle more and talk more shit but also cool I got away unscathed so maybe a wash. |

Basically they aborted their first attempt to accost me- at that point i was alert to something going on, and it was a race to see if I could get to my truck before they could run me over/stick a gun in my face. I won that by literally a nanosecond; they were pulling the handle of my door at the very instant I hit the electric lock. They tried smashing my windows with their pistol grips, drivers and passengers side, but I was able to start the truck and rip the fuck out of there. At the intersection, 30' away, they had cars positioned on all 3 sides (4 counting behind me, which was the one the thugs got out of) and because they positioned one car poorly I was able to slip by. Not that it mattered at that point- I was in control of a Dodge Ram 3500 4x4 with a 5.9 Cummins turbodiesel and would have made a wrecking yard out of all their cars if I needed to (unless they shot me first). |
