If I could only have 1 spyderco knife it would be the sage 5.

explain the difference from the Para 3, I'm not understanding it
Para 3, IMO, is the perfect form factor and size for a standard EDC.
the BM 945 is great too but you forget its even there.

They are very similar and both are absolutely phenomenal knives.
the most noticeable difference is the blade shape. The sage 5 has a leaf shape whereas the para 3 has a clip point style with a big bump on the top.
I think the lines on the sage 5 are more fluid and aesthetic by a long shot. The para 3 is an ugly knife. It looks like a chubby condensed version of the pm2 which was already a pretty ugly knife.
Para 3 is a bit more slender too and the lack of the bump on the blade makes it carry better as well.
Finally, it's made in the taichung taiwan factory and just has a better fit and finish than the para 3 which is made in the golden colorado factory.
The lightweight version in particular sets it apart from the para3. It has liners on both sides and a bushing system in the pivot which makes for perfect action. The para 3 lightweight only has liners on 1 side and no bushing system. It's also in an inferior steel though this configuration is slightly cheaper than the sage 5 lightweight.
There are tons of videos on youtube comparing the knives if you are interested.

For comparisons to the pm2 and size questions, I'm posting a Pic of the 3 spydies I have in my office right now.
Pm2, sage 5, chaparral.
The sage 5 is longer than the chaparral but a more manageable size than the pm2.
A dimension that you can't really see is thickness. The sage 5 is just slightly thinner than the pm2 allowing for a more comfortable carry while hardly sacrificing any utility. The chaparral is very thin, as it's intended to be a light use gentleman's folder.
All 3 are GOAT tier spyderco models IMO, but the sage 5 is the "if I could only have 1" answer for me.
