Also the tunnels under the Hudson are perpetually on the verge of massive failure which necessitates constant repairs, more delays and cancellations. Also the rolling stock is shit because no one is going to buy a sweet Euro or Jap train to run slowly on shitty rails. And the workforce is a bunch of lazy government union types who are totally protected in Congress. otoh, the hyperloop idea was intriguing for DC-NY and LA-SF. but high-speed rail? no. |
