"In 2023, Ashton Kutcher and his venture capital firm, Sound Ventures, made a significant bet on artificial intelligence by investing in OpenAI during one of its earlier large funding rounds. At the time, OpenAI was valued in the range of roughly $20 billion to $30 billion, and Sound Ventures reportedly deployed around $30 million into the company.
That investment has since surged in value following OpenAI's explosive growth. In March 2026, the company raised $122 billion at an $852 billion valuation, instantly becoming one of the most valuable private companies in the world. Around the same time, a leaked cap table revealed that Sound Ventures owns approximately 0.15% of OpenAI, a stake now worth roughly $1.3 billion on paper.
While that full amount belongs to Sound Ventures and its investors collectively, Kutcher is a co-founder and general partner of the firm, meaning he participates in profits through carried interest and likely has personal capital invested alongside the fund. Even a conservative estimate of his share of that position suggests $400 million to $600 million in value tied to OpenAI alone."

They have advisors that put them into insane products they don't understand in order to rape them on fees. They also buy EQUITY in businesses because they heard that's what big deals do. Most of the time they make the Wrong Moves but they don't care because they are celebrities and it'll all work out. Sometimes they make the right moves and the media sucks them off even more

It seems like the boomers were really into that whole “trust your advisors” thing. I think decades of scandals and self-dealing by reps, accountants, financial planners, lawyers, assistants, cooks, cleaners, and golden retrievers have taken their toll.

Every RIA and brokerage firm has a special strike team of Series 7 FINRA commandos who grew up in MFH riding the subway with 30 years of experience fastidiously ignoring all forms of celebrity because they’re just too cool and worldly.
They will mechanically read the same anti-fraud script to Chris Martin when he’s trying to withdraw to buy on the Malibu beachfront as their prole-facing peers will read to Bobby the roofer before he’s able to get his $30K down payment for the split-level in Muncie Indiana. And, without a betraying a sliver of emotion, they’ll revel in it.
