1. Links pasted into a post are cleaned up automagically for your privacy and convenience
* A link copied from X drops the extra tracking text X adds. The same goes for Instagram share links and Youtube links. I can't make any guarantees the rewriting will always catch everything, so try to remove the trackers when you're pasting anyway, but this should be pretty reliable and is meant to apply to heretofore poasts as well.
* A period, comma, or parenthesis after a link stays part of the sentence. It is no longer treated as part of the address.
* A link to a thread on xoxohth.com or autoadmit.com keeps you on the site you are already using, and it shows that thread’s title instead of the long address. i realized the need for this when someone, shrewdly, called out a poaster's xoxohth.com link as an unemployed tell (i'm quite unemployed and i use xoxo, but when i go anywhere of significance and use their wifi, i'm informed, shrewdly, that i'm attempting to visit a porn site)

no problem for salt of the earth types like you and i, but i've noticed on the one or two occasions i've left the house in the past couple years, public wifi tends to block xoxo.
this disproportionately affects the kind of people who go out.

the stuff after a '?' in a link is called query parameters, they give the server more info on what you want beyond the basic file you are requesting
xo uses them the old/intended way where 'thread.php' is the file you request to open a thread, and a thread_id=x parameter says which thread (this is injected in the database query the server runs to give you the page, which is why they are named that)
at some point years back the evil ad surveillance web giants realized they could give you bullshit query parameters that don't actually mean anything but provide a unique identifier that ties you to people who open your links, to build up their social surveillance graph. Pretty much all social media sites do this know - so when XO user A clicks copy link on an instragram thot poast, IG adds some random string of characters that tell Meta where the link came from when XO user B opens it

don't say I didn't do nothing for the peoples of XO/AA. deleting my other account was uncalled for btw. I always have the best interest of this place first and foremost.
fwiw, work phone switched up whatever shit they have so that autoadmit doesn't load but xoxohth does. i try to avoid it altogether.

Minor detail:
If you hit poast and then hit the back button twice it takes you to the poast you just bumped but it does not refresh the site. Previously a double back button took you to the location of the parent poast but the site was refreshed so your new poast was there.
