Been thinking more and more about this. Getting a remote cabin near a lake. I could use it as a nice vacation home during the summer too (I'm in the north).
Lot of nice, cheap places all throughout the upper midwest and around the great lakes.

looks cr
acreage in the midwest will be the place to be in 2050 when texas is 120 degrees for weeks on end, the west coast is raped by non-stop fires, and the east coast gets insane storms destroying ports
i have an acreage her in tx and enjoy it, but looking at midwest stuff, like maybe wisconsin on lake michigan

I live on a family compound I bought after I maed it. Home on a hill, source of fresh water on property, big acreage. My parents also have 200 acres with cattle closer to Houston. Of course if shit hits the fan and we have a drought those cattle will all die. They have a fresh water source but it will dry up.
But all you have to do is survive the initial death of millions and then you have lots more resources at your disposal.

been thinking about this, but it seems that isolation creates vulnerabilities - what if you need health care or if dindus just show up at night?
Seems better to be part of a good community that will look after each other (btw, this is how humans have lived all throughout time)

In CA - ranch with acres and acres with horses and a well on the property that hits the water table (or whatever). Pretty sure everywhere in CA but the desert will be overrun in a worst case scenario, though.
Why doesn't everyone contribute 1% of their crypto gains to the most mentally ill compound ever envisioned - XOLand.
