It explains so much. It explains price gouging, shrinkflation, no entry level jobs, no backfilling of roles when someone resigns, five rounds+ of job interviews, multi-jobs, office holiday parties you have to pay to attend, paying for parking at work, WFH declining, rising rents. Fucking all of this is PE.

Nothing about the present paradigm in "Private Equity" seems to point to a concern for long term economic sustainability, honorable transparency in commercial dealings, or the welfare of the communities that they inhabit. The "Tragedy of the Commons" problem has a multivalent face now, and that face is plastered on every economic corporate raiding party masquerading as anything other than a legalized opaque mafiosi style arrangement made at the expense of the public welfare and the principles of economic fair play embodied in the previous "scale for transparency" agreement laid down by our august regulators of commerce in more genteel times

Tbh PE is a huge reason for a lot of the job growth. People are just spoiled as shit these days and have forgotten what an actually bad economy looks like. Back then the playbook was to take an axe to labor at unprofitable bloated companies, so at least it could be forgiven why people would blame PEs.

Full time employment is declining.

The new innovation is to reduce jobs at profitable companies, too
