what actually happened: Denmark told him to get fucked and the EU threatened total economic retaliation for his tariffs so he backed off and now he’s trying to save face by claiming that “scheduling” a “meeting” with NATO is a total victory

To be fair,
Lmao remember like six months ago when libs spent a day cheering and high-fiving each other about how some total shithold country in SA (I think it was Guatemala) allegedly told Drumpfth to fuck off over tariffs, and as a result, Drumpth backed off like a scared little chicken shit and abandoned the threatened tariffs and then Guatamala turned out to the Albert Einstein and the whole class applauded wildly and Darth Vader fell into the fiery pit of doom and evil was defeated forever that day (the end)?
...IIRC this was before that narrative predictably turned out to be complete and total bullshit, because of course it was since why the fuck would any US POTUS ever give a single shit about what "Guatemala" thinks or says about anything.
Libs are truly retarded and have zero critical thinking skills.
The "framework" will be somewhere between meaningless and nothing more than what the US could have gotten if we had just nicely asked for it in the first place.

Trump failed but i don't think any less of him -- it solidifies one great thing about him.
his instincts were right. with China declaring itself a "near Arctic" power and with Russia fucking around, the Danish management of Greenland was a disaster in waiting.
Trump was right to seek more US control.
sure, he overplayed his hand and has had to dial it back. but i want a guy who's fighting for the US rather than selling it out to foreign powers (Clintons, Obama, Bidens, etc.)

he's done more for working class Americans than any POTUS in a long time. starting with Bush GW and Clinton, the elites have been selling out the US. tbf, Reagan's heart was in the right place but he sold out the working class on some key issues too.

The current treaty and relationship allows the US free will to open bases and station troops in Greenland*. He manufactured a crisis out whole cloth. There was never a problem to begin with.
*Notably, the US has been closing bases on the island for decades. There's like 100 troops stationed on the island. If it were so strategically important, Trump would have reopened bases and moved troops there in his first term or over the past year.

China recently declared itself a "near Arctic" nation and Russia (actually an Arctic nation) has been fucking around up there. the stakes are way too high for a third tier player like Denmark.

Disputed Arctic seafloor claims involve Russia, Canada, Denmark (Greenland), Norway, and the U.S. vying for seabed rights, primarily for vast fossil fuel and mineral reserves, under the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). Key contested areas include the Lomonosov Ridge (claimed by Russia, Canada, Denmark) and parts of the Beaufort Sea (U.S. vs. Canada). These claims, based on extending continental shelves, create geopolitical tension as melting ice opens access to resources and shipping routes, with disputes often involving overlapping submissions to the UN Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf (CLCS).

A triumphant President Donald Trump welcomed Greenland as America's 51st state today, capping a week of diplomatic and political achievements unrivaled in modern history.
"Greenland is going to be a state, and we are happy to accept the $10 billion gift that Denmark is paying us not to bomb them into oblivion," Trump said. "It's a beautiful country, mostly made of ice," he added.
Danish King Hans Frederickson officially transmitted a message to Trump ceding the territory and congratulating the American president for a masterful negotiation.
