not a big deal to rudolph but a big deal to a shitlawyer making 60k. i am bad.

advice on this hand.

I hold AdKd big blind. 3 Limpers (2-5 blinds), then small blind limps. I raise to 25 total. the 3 limpers fold, then small blind calls. Flop 3h 6d 6s. small blind checks i bet 30 and he calls. turn is Qd. he checks, i check. river is 3d. He bets out 80. do you call? (all the info i have on this player is that he is decent)

idk those are tuff. im no pro but depends on person im palying against. if i have a decent stack sure i'll bet it or i will to see if i can push him out. but hard to put him on hand and sucks that you don't have anything. if he is calling you he probably has a piece of that flop unless 45 and even then. idk if it were mean i wold fold because i'm kind of a tigh player why bother putting in a lot of money with ace high.

If you're Mr Super Tight Dan Harrington Jedi you fold here. For normal people you obviously pay it off, but this is a textbook example of why you have to make the continuation bet on the turn in position. The bet on the turn probably only saves you like $30 at most, but it also lets you fold to his raise on the river and not show. There are 8 cards left in the deck where you pwn him and only the one where he's got you by the balls, so obviously this is a tough river.

If you are going the Dan Harrington route you also shouldn't be putting in a 5x raise pre-flop with four callers ahead of you in the BB, because you have to assume there could be multiple dead As and/or Ks in their hands. If you want to raise to drive people out 4x does the job and you limit your damage in each subsequent round of betting if the flop goes badly.

Tough place to be.

He could have a weak/weak-mid pocket pair which could be compatible with the line he took. He could also be 45 draw that missed and he wants to represent a flush that hit.

Or he could have had a six at the flop.

Sorry man but in a 1/2 game the river is an easy fold unless you have specific info that villain likes to bluff. Not too many low-limit players are firing $80 river bluffs.

EDIT: Reading comp fail for me. In a 2/5 game I think some players are more likely to bluff on a board like that after you check the turn. It really just comes down to how tight and bluffy your villain is. I still think it's a fold more often than not but there are lots of villains i call river against. Also, bet a little more on flop.

There's not too many hands that OP would raise with pre-flop that contain a 3 or a 6, so it's difficult to represent that. You might be able to get 77-TT to fold out with a strong turn bet depending on villain and OP's image.

didn't read whole thread.

just gotta call. hard to think a person calls original raise with 3 or 6 hands. that said, raise should have been bigger with 3 limpers.

sometimes you lose, but you've got nut diamonds with unlikely full houses that beat you.

here's how you should have played the hand. Raise 3X+1X for every limper. Possibly even more since you're likely to be out of position should anyone decide to call. In this case $35-$45. Of course this depends upon the game. Many live no limit games routinely see standard preflop raises to 5X so adjust accordingly. Continuation on the flop was ok, maybe a little small. The check with the nut flush draw and two overs on the turn is simply idiotic. Then you have to call the river absent any player-specific reads.

I agree with this, although there are so many variables with table history, styles/reads and position of limpers to determine the optimal preflop bet--$25 is ok here absent other information. I discount the small blind's action in this scenario, and probably would've bet $30 (doubling the pot from $25 to $50 total) to ease the math going forward.

Either way, any issue with a few bucks +/- on the preflop and postflop bets are dwarfed by the terrible decision not to bet the turn.
