seems like the correct analysis would be that voters slightly prefer republicans to democrats but trump more than either.

lol, nobody likes republicans. Trump was a miracle for the GOP. If they ran the average Republican like Ted Cruz they'd lose 30+ states.

percentage of house vote and margin for GOP is actually HIGHER than Trump's percentage and margin. GOP won house vote 50.71-47.71. Trump won 49.85-48.27. Granted final vote not completely in, but will most certainly end that way.

i'm guessing republicans do not have any voting areas where they win at such high percentages as dems

those shit cities get the 99.5% vote dem in areas. afaik, republicans never get close to that anywhere

Trump won the popular vote by like 1%, which would translate to a 4 seat majority in the house. If anything, the other republicans over performed him.

It looks like the last race is about to be called for Dems in CA.

So GOP wins 220 house seats to 215 for Dems.

Interestingly enough, the GOP netted 3 seats from gerrymandering North Carolina last year. So that actually was decisive in getting them the majority.

But because there are already 3 house retirements, their majority will only be 217-215, which means the GOP can't lose a single vote on any issue.

Look at California. Trump won 38% of the vote yet the GOP will hold 9 of 52 congressional seats (17%). Of course since California districts are drawn by an “independent” commission of “nonpartisan” “experts” it can’t possibly be the case that the districts are drawn to disfavor the GOP; the GOP is just unlucky.
