Date: July 31st, 2005 1:49 AM Author: Orchid big-titted range therapy All of those questions are none of your business. But I will tell anyway, since I could care less. I graduated from UChicago in '04. Work at a sweatshop/Biglaw firm in Chicago doing corporate litigation crap (in fact I am working right now)
I am 5'6. Brown hair. I run 40 miles a week. You get the idea. |

I could have left an hour ago if I had not signed on here though. And, no work tommorow! |

Date: July 31st, 2005 1:54 AM Author: Orchid big-titted range therapy No. Usually I would never work past 3 or 4 on a Saturday. But, people are on vacation and there is a lot going on next week. Date: July 31st, 2005 1:58 AM Author: Orchid big-titted range therapy Not generally at this juncture. However, I also have no interest in doing pro bono full time. I would rather assist corporations than crappy people who get themselves in quagmires. Hence why I did not go into medicine. (https://xoxohth.com/thread.php?thread_id=230493&forum_id=2#3455932) |

Date: July 31st, 2005 2:00 AM Author: floppy stubborn school you sure it wasn't because you couldn't take the science classes/get into med school? why would you want to assist corporations? does it make you happy to help an entity that is already rich get richer, that could care less about you and your "service?" Date: July 31st, 2005 2:03 AM Author: Orchid big-titted range therapy lol. No. Believe it or not, I was premed at my undergrad. I did really well in all my science classes. In fact, I find science easier-rote memorization.
No, I just could not deal with patients. I volunteered once. It seemed like most of the sick people brought it on themselves. I can't deal with the emotions, either. I just like dealing with corporations, yes. |

Date: July 31st, 2005 2:06 AM Author: Orchid big-titted range therapy Possibly. Lifestyle choices, etc. Besides, cancer patients are so damn depressed. I can't deal with it. Do not want to. I will save my emotions for my family. I also decided I did not want to put myself at risk for diseases by being around blood and needles and stuff. Anyway, I was only premed/biology for the first 2 years. (https://xoxohth.com/thread.php?thread_id=230493&forum_id=2#3456002) |

Date: July 31st, 2005 2:14 AM Author: floppy stubborn school explain? I'd think the work of a resident is of a quite different nature than that of what you are currently doing. (https://xoxohth.com/thread.php?thread_id=230493&forum_id=2#3456072) |
|
Date: July 31st, 2005 2:15 AM Author: Orchid big-titted range therapy Yes. But it is much harder to be a resident. All in all, both are working insanely long hours. At least I am making 6 figures doing it. (https://xoxohth.com/thread.php?thread_id=230493&forum_id=2#3456083) |
|
Date: July 31st, 2005 2:17 AM Author: floppy stubborn school I don't see why it is harder. Esepcially since residency sounds a shitload more interesting than doc review. And I'm not worried about the money, the money will come to me eventually. (https://xoxohth.com/thread.php?thread_id=230493&forum_id=2#3456094) |

Date: July 31st, 2005 2:18 AM Author: Orchid big-titted range therapy Fine. Nothing against it here. My brother and father are both physicians. My brother absolutely hates residency, and my father moved out of clinical care a while ago because of all the red tape he had to deal with and now own several surgical care centers. So, it is not exactly a rosy field to be in, that is for sure. (https://xoxohth.com/thread.php?thread_id=230493&forum_id=2#3456105) |

Date: July 31st, 2005 2:22 AM Author: Orchid big-titted range therapy He works 80-100 hours a week. Constant pressure. Only like 1 weekend off out of 4 or something. On call very frequently. Pressure to be involved in research/academia at the same time. Having to deal with bitchy nurses and other annoying hospital staff. Obviously, his salary sucks for all that work, too.
The attendings are always lecturing them about legalities and malpractice issues, putting the fear of God into them. Constant worrying about job and salary stability. Being owned by insurance companies, etc. It sucks. |
|
Date: July 31st, 2005 2:24 AM Author: floppy stubborn school I though they aren't allowed to work you more than 80+ now. Plus it is only 1-2 years and the rest of your life is 40 hour weeks. i don't know why he would have job/salary concerns (https://xoxohth.com/thread.php?thread_id=230493&forum_id=2#3456149) |

Date: July 31st, 2005 2:28 AM Author: Orchid big-titted range therapy Are you on crack? He is a thoracic fellow and he still works 80-100 hour weeks. Yes, this is his 7th year as a resident. Well, technically I guess he is fellow. Anyway, those 80 hour limits set a couple years ago are largely not followed at all. It is a farce and everyone knows it. He will never, ever work 40 hour weeks. No one who makes 6 figures works 40 hour weeks (well, hardly anyone). He knows he will be working 50-60 hours a week for the rest of his career.
