I say this in every thread, but I highly recommend listening to podcasts on 1.5x. Start with 1.25x and when that sounds normal, bump it up. Even if you're multitasking/driving it's good because you get to squeeze in more info. But if listening is the main thing you're doing, it's essential to speed it up so you're wasting less of your life.

Most of us are retarded and can't even retain anything on 1x. I don't think I've ever listened to a podcast where I could turn around and give a book report on what was talked about

Bringing this back to the actual example, if 1x speech is "too fast" to take away anything meaningful (effectively meaning the person is unable to function properly at real life speed), it's really a cognitive issue
Hmm I guess it depends on the material. I don't listen to podcasts about random shit, 99% just news YouTubers who call their shows "podcasts." And I absorb it fine at 1.5x but more dense material might be different.

Lol at desperate efforts to socially engineer people's information sources
Social engineering depends on the source. Perversely, until this is said on a podcast, or until a new format or medium takes over from podcasts, this message will need to come from a podcast to have any effect
