jfc. I've been FT for a year now. wtf.
Everyday now I want to quit and go back to part time. The ONLY thing that makes me want to keep working is I want to just buy a home/fully paid off in next 5 years. So i'll have a fully paid off home + enough saved for retirement already and I can just do part time to cover normal living costs.

after a few years of FT work, you start to recognize how to look busy when your not = -25 hours per week, and by time your in your 50's, you appear to be working a 60 hour week when in reality its more like a 15 hour week, and also get PAID, and by then you have lived FIRE, and can retire or just do casual whatever between golf and surfing (a wave made of water, not the internet, well ok, the internet can also be surfed if thats your thing)

I spent summers as a teenager working on a masonry crew, mixing cement and hauling bricks in the southern heat and humidity. Riding a desk for an absurd amount of money is slowly killing my soul, sure, but have some perspective.

Same. And I’m getting pretty close to hitting my number and being finished with this shit. Or at least being able to stop caring, and maybe I stay on and sack away a bit of extra cushion for my kids.

ljl i havent had a normal "office jerb" for over 15 years now but a lot of the dumbfurk associates and partners that worked in my office are STILL there. i dont care how much money they have made, i literally cannot imagine walking into the office five days a week for 15+ years
in that time ive traveled all over world, lived all over, furked arnd and barely worked (even when i was doin SOLOshitlol it was like 20h tops of actual work a week and i didnt even live in US for 80%+ of the time
this be a slave to jew is GOY SYNDROME, this is how most ppl are programmed, esp once they get a mortgage and fat wife they feel they have no choice. a partner actually once blurted this out by accident, he knew an associate was committed when they bought a home ie they now had golden handcuffs and had to be a wage slave for jews for ever

this is why its so important to get a real job straight out of college. you work for a couple years and max out your 401k and then reflexively say fuck this this doesnt work at all and give up and move back with your parents until youre ready to get married and buy a house and get your second wind.

I don't know the answer to op's question other than to say a guy has to do what needs to be done - the needful. Wife was a SAHM and I was a po' boy, so being idle was not an option. I worked part time through high school, college and lawl school. Then 31 years full time and 17 years doing part time gig work. Worked in government, academia, and business, including being a proprietor vs. wage slave. Now I volunteer part time. It's all a blur until I look back and inspect it closely; then things come into focus. Work was the best of times and the worst of times. Blame Eve if you must, but work until you turn to dust.
