I.e. in 2028 Democrat president and congress and senate , how long before unlimited fica? That plus income brackets is +10% income tax. How about cap gains=ordinary income?

I'm more worried about an exit tax even just to take residence elsewhere
But I do believe that higher taxes are coming. I'm wondering how they're going to sell the idea that SS has been a promise that you get back what you put in, while they are certainly not going to uncap theoretical benefits for those who end up putting huge amounts of money in, which is total bullshit
At that point, it would be better for them to let us retain and invest our own IRAs for our old age using the full amount deducted from our checks
"Residence", you would need citizenship elsewhere if you're going to dump u.s. citizenship. I doubt the exit tax changes.. but what could try would you take citizenship in? Fica cap to 400k is an easy sell, if it passes in 2028, would make 1099 work unrealistic for me with 50%+ tax. But equating cap gains to ordinary income would make retirement suck also.

You're right. But I'm not planning to dump citizenship even if there are bad tax regimes. There's always somewhere cheap enough that you can live comfortably even despite it
And if that changes because it gets so bad here or for our dollar, well, why not stay here and fight

data centers would generate a lot of property tax revenue but nah libs don't want that. they also don't like you having a 7 fig net worth so time to murder the stock market.
