it's insane how busy and flustered they are w/ endless meetings that go on for hours and don't cover/resolve any of the issues they're suppose to cover.

Pretty sure cops make 200k+. But to get the most of it need to become a cop at 21 so you're retired by 50. Better yet enlisted military at 18 and continue in national guard while being a cop then start getting pension at 40.
what would you do if you were the sole witness to an illegal act of police brutality and asked to testify? lie to cover for the other cop or tell the truth? let's say it's your partner. would you proactively report your fellow cops for corrupt and violent acts?

I'm too old to care enough about a "partner" to lie for them. Plus I don't think the real world is much like 80s-2000s police dramas. Obviously I don't know what I would actually do though because I've never experienced anything like that
If there was some culture of corruption or whatever I'd probably quit and get rich writing a substack about it because people would eat that shit up.

cops outside of total rural hellholes make way more than that there decent vacation and many departments are under CBAs that allow for 'tour trades,' so you can take more time off when you want for less pay and some other guy picks up overtime to cover. then you can make the income back up working overtime. there are line cops in big cities who clear $200K with overtime. That's obviously not the norm but your number is not correct.

I was going by the OFFICIAL salary of my city. Obviously in reality officers have the opportunity to make more with PD overtime or off-duty security work.

I have to outright beg contractors/plumbers/tradesmen/handymen to come to my house to look at a job and give me a quote, and then I have to text them repeated hyper-friendly follow-ups to come back and actually do the work, as if they're a hot tinder chick who ghosted me but I'm still desperately trying to fuck.
I always try to trick them into taking cash when they come by the first time so that they feel obligated to come back.

"Had a great time yesterday. $1,200 sounds fantastic, but if there are cost or time overruns nbd. I'll have the cash ready. Do you think you'll be able to make 11/3 work?"
[4 unrequited texts followed by one response that doesn't set a date]
"Haha np! Thanks for getting back to me! Yeah I can make any day in that 2-week period work. I was holding 12/25 but I imagine you didn't actually want that day haha."

I periodically do my own projects (I enjoy many of them), but (1) there's many where you just can't do as good of a job unless you get a lot of practice, which is more time; and (2) for generic shit anyone can do well like replacing exterior lamps with new fixtures, it might take me $8K in billable time to complete a project I could pay $300 for.
