Also you could probably drop your hosting costs dramatically and reduce the amount of security patching you have to do by moving to AWS instead of blue host or whatever

Something like xo seems different because it's not a conventionally political forum, and when anything is permitted to be said, it ends up getting a surrealist layer to it. Most of it ends up just looking like elaborate performance and inside joke. Would be interesting to try out as a test case, but I think obviously wherever the main site is now is still the best case for it considering how well and for how long it has endured.
