I've added about 3 or 4 mph to my average driver swing speed just sort of half-assing superspeed the past few months and hitting a couple of times a week. Going to start doing the proper 3x a week program throughout the winter to try to get another 4-5 mph for the spring.

I'm 10 mph faster since this post, ty. And that's with zero gym training and probably just doing superspeed sticks 1x a week and 20-30 max out driver swings 2-3x a week

got 2 pts off of a +4 today. overall match was 5-4. boomer on my team played some zoomer kid who was pounding whiteclaws and vaping the whole round. kid had a good swing though.

Holy shit this motherfucker I played today could have been a clone of cslg except he was like 6’3. Also he fucking holed out his approach on the 18th for eagle to take a point from us. he had retard strength and was like 50 yards longer than me off the tee

they set the pairings this morning. One club we're matched against I always really liked and haven't played in over 15 years and am going to push for the away team. other ones are whatever.

got my ass handed to me by an AZNdood today. Was playing well - shot 37 on the front and still lost the side then just shat the bed in the back. Was putting almost as bad as Kenny.

have my last one of these for the season this weekend. handicaps involved so not super competitive but there is $$ at stake. next week is the cross country tournament which is just a goof off and a lot of drinking.

only change is a titleist t100 2023 model 5 iron w/ Mitsubishi graphite shaft I bought on ebay because the head on my ping i500 5 iron fell off twice in the last two years and feels weird when I hit it. other than that I have 915 D3 driver, 910 15 degree, TSR 18*, 585h 21*, i500 6-PW, vokey 50*/54*/60* and cameron studio squareback

It seems kind of backwards to have a set of stronger lofted large head players distance irons, with a smaller players cavity iron at the 5 iron. Seeing any gapping issues at 5-6 iron?

It's an experiment because I want to maybe switch to blade type irons but with lighter graphite shafts. right now I have project X 6.5 125g shafts in the i500s and they feel like bludgeons. need to get that smooth flow back.
I don't really like the t100 all that much either tho.

You're like a scratch or something right? I assume you could play anything on the market in terms of ball striking.
It's also kind of interesting with some of the testing and face mapping done by testers (askgolfnut, coolclubs) are really showing that a lot of clubs geared toward lower handicap golfers are actually more "forgiving" around the face in terms of the carry distance drop off being smaller from center, relative to game improvement or even player's distance irons. Like my Ping i230s did better with mishits than the Mizuno JPX 921 Forged I played the season before, both in my own experience and testing I've seen, even though they're supposed to be a more low handicap oriented club...they're 7 or 8 yards shorter due to higher loft and less hot face, but you can hit your number from a greater portion of the face.

I'm a 6 handicap and kind of a sps iron player. I played DCI 962b irons for a very long time and I always liked the small heads for long irons more than with the short ones. the i500 long irons feel like you're hitting the ball with a cricket paddle.

What do you dislike about the T100? I thought the 2025 T150 was quite good when I hit some balls at store with them. A couple of yards longer than my i230 and Cobra King Tours but a bit less forgiving and lower spin.

I’m not competitive but have been getting together with my high school bros to play in a few scrambles every year. First one is Saturday and I’m fired up

Playing at some jew club that advertises bar mitzvas on the club website tomorrow in the fucking rain. Good news is my elbow is also fucked up. We’ll see what unfolds.

got multiple points off some GORGEOUS swarthy indian kid who was like 50+ yards longer than me off the tee and shot fucking 3 under on the front. Made it a priority to say veddy veddy good at one point.

recent threading on how Indians are utter pieces of shit reminded me how the other Turd in our group was a no show for the match and my partner just played along and played our 2 on 2 match 2 on 1.
Turdguy didn't call or cancel or anything, just didn't show and didn't care about fucking up the day for members of the club hosting you. sums them up nicely.

Won first round of potus cup this week against a 1 handicap and getting 2 shots per side. Guy is a high school teacher who plays every fucking day and belongs to two other clubs besides mine. Wife is a high risk obgyn which is how he affords the life. Have personal reasons to take someone connected to that industry down.
also elbow is still fucked up but those copperfit sleeves are 180 for keeping it together.

I am hanging on by a thread of staying in the not fucking around cohort. Next guy I have also does competitive stuff but is like 60 and rats the ball around and looks like Santa Claus. I have to hand out shots for that one, like 2 a side

I shot 87. Dumped the ball in the water on TWO par 3's, then re-teed and stuck it close and hit the putt for 4 on both of them. That's a great round for me, pretty psyched.

I shot 82 but 46-36 split. Guy I played reminded me of the alpha aspie ada thread from years ago. I thought he might hand me a can of tuna or ask me if iPods are crazy. I went and pounded two woodfords on the rocks after the round and he went and hit balls then went to the gym at like 7pm. Guy is 57 and we both walked carrying our own bags late in the day.
Every shot counts and making the birdies and good recoveries is what separates good rounds from shitty ones. No one has the time or energy and is too old to just GIR par every hole. Need to take what you can when you can.

Had my first hole in one last week. 200 yd par 3 playing down to ~190 but into the wind. 5i landed front edge, 2 hops, and rolled in. It’s my home course, although i just did a 10 rd social membership this year, but i still get a plaque or whatever at the end of the year.

Last one of these for the season this weekend. Got 2 out of three points off the same 65 year old guy from above and some late 50s ex college wrestler dood who is a legit 3 handicap and 20 yards longer than me. Plus we walked so that gave me a sense of accomplishment and won $96 in skins by draining a 30 foot birdie on one hole.
Tomorrow I’m playing a podiatrist and some alcoholic guy in his 40s who owns an auto body shop and a steakhouse
Date: October 19th, 2026 10:22 AM Author: Underhanded lodge
podiatrist was a much better iron player and longer/less accurate off the tee than me but was like Kenny tier putting. won gross match but lost net giving up five shots. made some $$$ this weekend at least.
this old Lebanese mustache guy on my team that I shared a cart with was cool as fuck and was smoking cigars and drinking bourbon and blasting country music the whole round. terrible at golf but fun guy, moving to FLA in a few weeks to a club with $125K initiation and has to coordinate shipping his 500+ bottle wine collection down there.
