Sopranos, Eastbound, Entourage, TD s1, and Rome are the only good ones there and band of brothers is a miniseries. rest are somewhere between mediocre and sps.
also, Obama banned good TV shows/movies during his second term. you can fully blame him for having nothing but chink capeshit woke garbage come out for the last 10+ years

it's a good entertaining show and Piven was 180 as fuck. Arguably the second best hbo character after Gandolfini (give him the nod over Kenny Powers and Rust Cohle).
it hasn't aged well and is more depressing now to watch.

it's like breaking bad but with shitty acting and shitty characters. notice how no one ever has rewatched breaking bad? wire is like that but it sucks too much to even get through once.

i couldnt get through an episode of the wire or more than a season of succession. never saw silicon valley. deadwood had tons of good stuff but the plot was so slow i tapped out twice after making it to the second season.

never saw succession, wire is buttfuck awful, deadwood is a decent show if you’re into western shit, silicon valley is gay as fuck with very punchable characters.
Entourage was a 180 entertaining show for the far less cynical period of time it came. It hasn’t aged well because everyone has come to terms with how shitty and gay hollywood culture really is.
besides air gold, johnny drama also is a possibly a top 5 HBO character

Rome was great because of the characters and showing the formation of the empire through the lens of two low level lackeys who just happened to get mixed up in a series of very significant historical events.
Sopranos prequel series would have been 180 except they couldn't find anyone to play young tony. plus david chase thinks anyone except him gives a fuck about historical newark shit and they wouldn't be able to help themselves from dropping in references to the original series that would be cheesy and lame. many saints of newark pretty much confirmed this.
The first episode od War was pretty ok. A lot of these vlassic HBO shows were always overrated, like hotel show and dragon show, but it's far from impossible we'll get another Rome or Sopranos. Wait two years.
White Lotus. Only part i actually liked was evan39 in season 1. Beyond that, xould not understand why intellectual men were watching a character drama.
The series follows two intergalactic cops who are drawn into a dark, Earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland. One spacecop is black, and the other is white.

Weird take considering the guy that was the head of HBO for the last 20 years already won the bake off with the head of Paramount streaming and is the Chief Content Officer of the combined company.
The much more likely outcome of this merger is Paramounts “singles hitter” philosophy will take over both studios, and you’ll never see another year from WB where they take big enough swings to put out both a prestige Oscar dominator with a nine figure budget and a genre experiment by a big name director with a nine figure budget that does extremely well at the box office and also wins Oscars, along with the IP plays that push or exceed $1B and pay the bills. But that’s probably mostly a good thing imo. Love on Nolan all you want, the agency driven model that was really built for/around “the three amigos” directors is such 80s brained stupidity in a world of phones and YouTube let alone short form video. I’d much rather the studios take 25 shots with $25M budgets handed to first time directors under 40 than have the three amigos, PTA and Coogler get $125M every time out to chase more Oscars.
